Students projects

This page is dedicated to the students projects of ESME Sudria, School of Engineering, but feel free to use this contents within the limits imposed by the Creative Commons Licence. Some project are just simple, but very interesting applications for undergraduate students.

Liste non exaustive des Projets Innovation & Recherche. Voici un document pour les élèves de l'ESME Sudria pour suivre l'évolution des projets: Journal de Bord Projets et Cahier des Charges des Fonctions.

Long term projects

ESME Sudria has a well established reputation in electrical engineering and electronics. Although the main goal of ESME Sudria-Lyon is undergraduate tuition, we are carrying out some research and student project A wide part of our interdisciplinary activities involves automatics, robotics, connected objects, internet technology, computer programming. Please, visit the Connected Objects and Electrical Network for Energy Harvesting pages for more details.

Ongoing Projects

Connected Objects & Robotics: mini drone, obstacle avoiding robot, segway, smart cities, Arduino based projects

Homemade Stirling Engine

Material science

Cheap heat transfer solutions for buildings

Tips before starting a project

1) Learn about the setup you're going to built. A comprehensive set of documents can be found on this website. Be sure to know how your setup should works before starting design.

2) Watch all the videos, download and install all the software you need for the project

3) Keep it simple. It's nearly impossible the first draft corresponds exactly to the final design. Search for ideas on the web, do a sketch on the paper, use a proper modeling software. Use Algodoo for basic 2D dynamics, FreeCAD & SketchUp for a more complex 3D representation, Energy 2D for 2D thermo-fluid dynamics simulations. BE CAREFUL: using this software is not necessarely a good idea (think about time consuming), if everything is set with the first paper&pencil sketch!

4) Teamworking is important, think about managing the tasks of your team. Consider the idea of using a Gannt chart. Several free online Gannt chart can be found on the web and one based on Microsoft Office as well.
